History

NEIGRIHMS, a tertiary care medical institute was established in 1987 by the Government of India. Located in Shillong, Meghalaya it caters to population of the North eastern region and its neighbouring countries. The institute conducts high-end diagnostics and medical interventions through various departments. These departments apart from patient care conduct other intramural and extramural research. 

These various clinical and academic researches are backed by a functional Institutional Ethics Committee which is registered both with DHR and CDSCO. Besides the MBBS course, the institute currently offers MD/MS courses in General Medicine Obst. & Gynaecology, Microbiology, Pathology, Radio-diagnosis, Anatomy, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine Biochemistry, ENT, Opthlamology and one super specialty course, Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Cardiology. Further the Nursing College of the Institute also undertakes BSc and MSc courses. As of 2021-2022, NEIGRIHMS host a total number of 594 beds.

Dr. I. Tiewsoh (MD) Associate Professor , Department General Medicine

Dr. I. Tiewsoh is an Associate Professor in the Department of General Medicine at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong. She received her undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Maharashtra. She holds a post doctoral fellowship in Critical Care Medicine from CMC Vellore along with India Diploma in Critical Care Medicine by Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM). She also has a post-graduate Diploma degree in Geriatric Medicine. She has also served as the principal Investigator for several intra- and inter-mural projects and has co-supervised research theses for postgraduate students at the Institute. She has also authored several research articles.
